This time too they have been an active participant in making Coimbatore a better place.

With Tamil Nadu being declared as a drought prone state which has been facing severe water crises, the city has witnessed lot of protests and farmer suicides. Coimbatore Corporation has taken initiatives to ensure regular water supply to people in the city. Radio City 91.1 has been doing its part to help the people of Coimbatore to cope up during this water crisis.
While speaking about the initiative Prabhu.K, Regional Programming Director of Radio City 91.1 FM Coimbatore shared that "We all are aware that the state is drought prone and people everywhere are struggling for water. As far as the city is concerned, people in many areas staged protests and road rokos to get water supplied in their respective areas.
So we thought of launching an initiative to solve the water woes of people in the city called 'Thaagam Theerpom'. We have given out a WhatsApp number 7200 911 911. People suffering from water scarcity in their respective regions can reach out to us on WhatsApp. A special team from Radio City 91.9 will visit the place and do a survey for authentication. Once the checking is done we will supply water to the region. We have partnered with Shyam Sundaram Water Supply and Arc Foundation India, in order to carry out this initiative.
The people from the middle class and upper classes can buy water cans or RO water for their usage but all people cannot afford it. This is the reason we mainly cater to those areas in the city. People in such areas are walking miles to fetch one can of water. We will be having 91 such water drives. We are planning to expand this initiative to many more areas in the coming days, hoping that it will benefit an increased number of people."
Today, the team is visiting K.K.Pudur for catering to the water needs of people in that area by 3.00 PM. SimpliCity team appreciates this need of the hour initiative by Radio City 91.1 FM and hope it makes a difference in the lives of many.
